WALKING TRAIL"MINJERA"
According to written documents, mineral processing in Minjera area dates back to the 16th century. The mineral processing plant on Minjera was built by the Venetian lieutenant Pietro Turrini in 1780. Alum and sulphuric acid processing took place up until 1856 when the factory was closed.
Besides the surface mines from which the pyritic bauxite was extracted, the remains of the buildings and of the church of St.Peter's are the only remnants of the mineral processing plant. The remains as well as the mines can be seen by taking the Minjera trail.
